Marketing can decide the success of your startup or small business.
Why?
The person who is in marketing knows it very well and if not then you need to know it before starting.
When I was meeting my friends who are going to start their start-ups and people who own small business for guiding them on how to start in Digital Marketing. I realise that some of the products are those who don't even have the demand in the market. That doesn't mean they were not solving problems they were and even big problems at that. But, They were trying to shoot arrows in the dark. Now, you might think that every Start-up is like that but it's not the case here. I know they were not the experts in business but they had everything else.
- A Great Product
- A Great Team
- A Great Business Plan
But when we were discussing the marketing strategies they had made some prior things to start and that was great but they were trying to make a product which everybody wants but don't want to know others that they want it.
It's hard to believe why it was like that. Because from their research it was clear that there is really a great demand.
Let me tell you a story you will understand it more after that. There was a start-up the name I don't remember but it was about solving the issue of unemployment.
They were helping the people to find the job and connect them with the employer by creating a social platform where the people who need job can post their problem and employer can find the people they wanted.
Does that idea sound cool? Isn't it great idea to help people who need help in their toughest time?
Right. It was great idea. But, they failed.
Why?
The simple reason was that the customers as they define jobless people were not happy about posting their jobless status on social media. And the founders didn't know that this can happen.
For them, The idea was great there was really a problem but they failed to understand the mindset of people which was the part of marketing.
Understanding human nature towards the service or product you sell.
If you can't relate the product or service to the customer you can't sell. This is in the fundamentals of marketing.
So, before you start please discuss this type of issues with your marketing team who can show these type of issues to you and can save you from big failure.
